Celebrating Jimmy Carter: The First U.S. President to Turn 100

Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, has made history by becoming the first U.S. president to celebrate his 100th birthday!

Since March 21, 2019, Carter has held the record as the longest-living former president, a testament to his remarkable life and resilience.

Born in the Roaring Twenties, Carter's life has spanned significant historical events, including the Great Depression and World War II. 

Carter was the first president born in a hospital, the first Naval Academy graduate to serve as president, and now, the first to reach 100 years old. 

Carter resides in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, where he has lived since his presidency ended in 1981. He is currently under home hospice care. 

In Plains, celebrations began with the annual peanut festival, combining the festivities with commemorative events for Carter’s milestone birthday.

President Biden and other leaders have expressed admiration for Carter, highlighting his influence and contributions to American society. 

Country music legend Charlie McCoy performed "Georgia On My Mind" in tribute to Carter, showcasing the deep respect he has garnered over the years.

Carter's presidency was marked by significant achievements in human rights, education, and environmental protection, leaving an enduring impact on the nation.
